Paid for beep load? Check that it reached the card

A successful online payment and a usable card balance are different checkpoints before your train journey.

Complete load fetching and verify the card balance before joining the gate queue. Do not immediately buy another load when the first is pending.

Payment is not the final step

The official beep FAQ explains that online load must be fetched onto the physical card. Supported NFC phones and station Stored Value Updaters are among the listed ways to do this. Your payment receipt alone does not demonstrate that the card has been updated.

Check that the card number on the transaction matches the card you will carry. If you manage several family cards, label your own records clearly rather than relying on memory or an old screenshot.

Allow time before the trip

Follow the official instructions for your payment channel and fetching method. Keep the card steady until the reader confirms completion, then check the updated balance. The FAQ includes channel-specific waiting guidance; do not assume every purchase is instantly available.

If the money has been deducted but fetching still fails, keep the reference, time and card details and contact the appropriate official support channel. Buying twice may leave you with two purchases rather than fix the pending one. Never share wallet passwords or one-time codes with someone offering to fetch it for you.

Prepare a practical fallback

Check the location of a working fetching point before relying on it during a rushed interchange. A phone with NFC hardware is not automatically proof that every app and card operation will work on it. Check the current compatibility guidance.

Bring a supported alternative way to pay where the rail operator permits it. We have not tested a particular station reader or phone. This guide is about avoiding a preventable payment delay, not a guarantee of gate access, service availability or a current fare.
